Small Image Show
The competition is open to all San Diego County artists, aged 18 and over.
- All work must be original and completed within the last year.
- Work done under the supervision of an instructor or work requiring special installation or handling will not be accepted.
- Submitting artists must have an active email address as all communications are done via email.
- Please note: All artwork needs to be dropped off for jurying and not shipped to the gallery.
Acrylics, ceramics, drawing, enamels, fibers, glass, jewelry, mixed media, oils, photography, printmaking, sculpture, watercolors, and wood.
All submissions must be handmade by the artist.
- First and second entry $30 (total for both).
- Each additional entry is $10 per – a maximum of eight (8) entries per artist.
- The entry fee is non-refundable.
- Electronic Artwork Entry Forms are available on this page (Small Image Show Entry Form) and/or at check-in tables on jury day.
2-D Artwork
- Artwork must measure 10″ x 10″ or smaller, including the frame.
- Artwork must fit in a 10″x10″x10″ cube, including the display.
- Absolutely no sawtooth hangers.
3-D Artwork
- Artwork must fit in a 10″ x 10″ cube, including the display.
- 20% of the sale of artwork goes to Gallery 21/Spanish Village Art Center.
- 80% goes to the artist.
- Payments will be made to the artists within one month of the close of the show.
- Please note: All exhibited work MUST be for sale and no work may be withdrawn before the close of the show.
47th Annual Small Image Show
The Gallery 21 SMALL IMAGE SHOW marks its 47th year in January 2023. This celebrated juried exhibition — started by Jim Brown back in 1975 — provides a unique challenge for the artist by utilizing a small image concept. Showcasing San Diego County artists, this event has built in popularity over its multi-year history and is an artist favorite. Over 25% of the artworks are typically sold during the exhibition each year!

Please bring the following items to Gallery 21 when you drop off your art:

☐ Artwork Entry Form – Download from here to fill it out electronically and print. There will also be some copies of the form at the gallery at check-in.
☐ Jury Fee – Check made payable to Gallery 21.

☐ OPTIONAL: Artist Biography – (8 1/2″ x 11″)- it will be added to the binder of artists if your artwork gets juried into the exhibition.

The recipient will be selected by the director of Gallery 21.
